I've published essays, fiction, and poetry in Back Home, Bellowing Ark, Bugle, The Christian Science Monitor, The Crab Creek Review, The Doula, The Fiddlehead, Manzanita Review, Men’s Fitness, Northwest, Summit, The Sun, a Magazine of Ideas, Yoga International, The Wolf Head Quarterly, Zyzzyva, and other magazines and newspapers. I've published two books in paperback, Somewhere in an Oregon Valley and Quiet People in a Noisy World, available on this website.
Somewhere in an Oregon Valley
tells about my family’s adventures taking care of a ranch in the
Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon. We had no modern
conveniences, pursued education where we lived, and had many contacts
with abundant wildlife in the area. Leaning toward spiritual values
rather than material values led to a rewarding existence for all of us,
parents, Laura and Jon, and our daughters, Juniper and Amanda. Some readers testify Somewhere in an Oregon Valley changed their lives by leading them away from merely material values and toward the joy possible
when we seek and pursue spiritual values.
Quiet People in a Noisy World, continues chronicling our
adventures on the ranch in northeastern Oregon, then as caretakers of
the water inlets on Tumalo Mountain for the city of Bend, in central
Oregon, then as caretakers on girl scout ranches in The Rocky Mountains
of Colorado. Quiet People in a Noisy World is
divided into 72 short
essays that make clear there still is rewarding existence outside the madly material consumer culture. Fifty-four of
the essays in Quiet People in a Noisy World were published in magazines
and newspapers.
Fifteen of my songs are
available for purchase and download from OregonAuthor.com. When I
get more books ready and record more songs, I will put them on the website, so please
check back. I build my website slowly because I
still write stories, write essays, practice songs, write new
songs.
