Reflections
I stand in wind that blows
across the granite ridge
through forest, across meadows.
Vehicles on a distant highway,
serpentine among rock formations,
forest and meadows.
Metallic reflections of sunlight
flash in a clear mountain sky.
A half-turn away from civilization's
intrusion into these stone mountains,
quick king snake of summer
disappears between rocks below my feet.
On meadow between forests,
an elk and her calf feast on summer green.
Golden sunlight reflects from summer's river
and shines into a blue mountain sky.
