Broad-Tailed Hummingbird

bright colors

in sunshine through the window

he flies against

seeking open air

I close my hand around him

light as air

soft as hummingbird feathers

carry him to open sunshine

hold him high

release him.

Singing wings, bright colors

ascend to mountain blue,

free.
